ZZ Top is a Blues Rock band from Houston, Texas that have amassed a loyal and dedicated following for their hard charging, Blues-inspired brand of Rock and Roll. While the band is often identified by their signature long-flowing beards, dark sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats, it is their music that has propelled them to stardom and produced such classic hits as "Legs", "Sharp Dressed Man" and "La Grange." They were also one of the first bands to embrace the Music Video format and had a number of hit videos during the early days of MTV.
The trio is one of the longest running rock bands to maintain the same lineup. In fact, until September 2006, they had the same manager, Bill Ham. In 1999, ZZ Top celebrated their 30 year anniversary by releasing the album XXX. This group has music that everyone immediately knows that is extremely authoritative, intensely emotional, and one hundred percent American in origin.
The group ZZ Top has went forward to maintain the blues through a variety of ways. Possibly the most noticeable was when they were given a section of wood from the Muddy Waters cabin in Clarksdale, MS. The members of the group had it made into a guitar and nicknamed it the "Muddywood," and then shipped it out on tour to raise funds for the Delta Blues Museum. ZZ Top's backing and connection to the blues is as solid as a rock, the same as the music they create. The group released both a concert CD and DVD named Live from Texas that was recorded in 2007 in Dallas in 2008.http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:qyr9kemt7q7x~T1
