Zurich is the largest city in Switzerland. It is Switzerland's main commercial and cultural center. The official language is German. Over 1.68 million people live in Zurich's metropolitan area. The city is situated at the north-western end of Lake Zurich, 30 km (18 miles) north of the Alps.
