Seven-year-old Zoe Garcia died of "blunt force injuries" after being beaten to death on December 6, 2007. Garcia's older sister, Heather Maria Trujillo, and Trujillo's boyfriend at the time, Lamar Roberts, were later tried and sentenced to 36 and 18 years in prison respectively in connection with the young girl's death.
