  • On December 31, 2008, unnamed Pakistani security officials told The Wall Street Journal that Zarrar Shah, a leader of the militant Islamic group Lashkar-e-Taiba had confessed that his organization was behind the terrorist attacks on Mumbai. Shah reportedly confirmed much of what the lone gunman captured during the attacks had said; that the ten assailants had been trained in Kashmir and Karachi and then traveled by boat to Mumbai.   • Arrest

    Shah's arrest was announced on December 10, just days after another alleged mastermind of the attacks, Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, was taken into custody. Both men are suspected senior members of the militant Islamic group Lashkar-e-Taiba, or L-e-T.
