  Vanessa Anne Hudgens, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman and Beyonce were revealed early-on to be performers for the 81st Academy Awards show, in spite of the guarded secrecy that surrounds the Oscar presenters and performers each year.

  Peter Gabriel was also slated to perform his Wall-E-nominated song "Down To Earth," until he realized that the complete song would not be sung, but rather a 60-65 second part of it would be included in a medley.
