American actor and singer Zac Efron began acting in the early 2000s. He first appeared in the 2003 made for television movie The Big Wide World of Carl Laemke. His breakthrough role came in Disney's High School Musical movies. In 2009, he appears in the comedy film, 17 Again.

In March of 2009, Efron spoke to members of the British media about his recent experience with appendicitis. Efron said when he complained of feeling unwell, co-star Thomas Lennon told him not to worry and that it was probably "just gas."
