Za'atar

Za'atar is spice used heavily in the Middle East that combines herbs including hyssop, oregano, marjoram, and thyme, and sometimes also sesame seeds and sumac. Za'atar is also an herb that has a minty aroma and dark green leaves.

Za'atar can be mixed with olive oil and spread on bread or used alone for flavoring meats and vegetables and salads. You can blend your own spices to make za'atar or purchase it already blended. The benefit from making your own za'atar is you can use the spices to satisfy your own taste buds.
