Yusuf Muzammil

  • Yusef Muzammil is the leader of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba's operations in India. According to testimony from apprehended terrorist Ajmal Qasab, Muzammil was the mastermind behind the November 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, which killed more than 170 people. Muzammil was among five senior officials' names found on a satellite phone recovered from the Thai trawler the terrorists used to launch their attacks. India has demanded that Pakistan's government hand over Muzammil to the Indian government.
  • Mumbai Attacks

    On November 26, 2008, a group of terrorists claiming to represent the Deccan Mujahideen launched a coordinated terrorist operation on the city of Mumbai, India. The group took hostages in affluent areas of the city, including multiple tourist destinations, notably the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Cafe Leopold and the Hotel Oberoi. The attack continued until the final gunman was cleared from the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel on November 29, 2008. Authorities estimate the death toll to be over 170, with at least 300 injured.
