For more than forty years, WPIX has aired an annual holiday program featuring a burning Yule log in a fireplace. The log snaps and crackles to a soundtrack of traditional Christmas music. Since 2006, several other channels have taken on this tradition, and you can even get the Yule log in High Definition. In 2008, several cable providers are also offering the show via on-demand systems, allowing users to view anytime during the holidays.
Copycat Programs
The popularity of the Yule log program has spawned several copycat programs, including a shot of a snowman out in the snow as the wind howls around him. There are also programs that feature snow scenes and winter pines, which could appeal to people who live somewhere that it doesn't regularly snow.TV Squad: Yule Log 2008: A review
