  • The Yukon River, is a major river in northwest North America, over half of which runs through Alaska, and the rest in the Yukon Territory. The river begins at the Llewellyn Glacier and flows through the Teslin River which is one of the main tributaries for the Yukon. The river continues on through Alaska and ultimately empties into the Bering Sea.

While the river was used extensively for transportation and shipping during the Alaska Gold Rush, after the opening of the Klondike Highway traffic decreaed significantly. Most recently there has been an effort to clean and revive the wildlife living in and around the river.
