YouTube Virginia Tech Threat

  • Virginia Tech students received an e-mail warning that a YouTube video featured threatening comments aimed at the school's community. The e-mail was sent out overnight on October 21, 2009, and said that the FBI, Virginia Tech Police and Virginia State Police were working together.     On October 22, 2009, Virginia Tech Police said they did not believe that there was a direct threat to the school. According to the Associated Press, a person created a YouTube account in Europe with the name "Nextvirgtechkiller" and wrote "the massacre is incoming."     "Virginia Tech Police have observed a You Tube posting making threats against the Virginia Tech community. We have received no direct threats at the university. The Virginia State Police and the FBI are assisting the university police. Currently,law enforcement believes the comments may have originated overseas. They are continuing their investigation.
