The Yorkshire Terrier is a small dog in the terrier breed. Also known as Yorkies, they are known for being long-haired and very playful.
Behavioral Traits
Despite the fact that Yorkies fall into the toy breed category, they carry many of the personality traits of regular terriers. They are generally seen as bold and independent dogs. Some Yorkies are friendly and will approach strangers, while others will withdraw and keep their distance. Behavior depends largely on how the dog is trained, but overall, Yorkies are very confident and energetic dogs.
Yorkies in America
1878 was the year in which the first Yorkie was registered with the American Kennel Club. Yorkies became popular pets in America. Popularity of Yorkies as pets fell during the 1940s, but saw a resurgence after World War II.Yorkie Doodle Dandy: Smoky the Yorkshie Terrier
