Yo La Tengo are an indie rock band that have released over 15 albums. Although Yo La Tengo has achieved limited mainstream success, the band has become a critical favorite with a devoted fan base.
Formation
Husband and wife duo Ira Kaplan and Georgia Hubley formed the band in 1984. after going through several other band members they finally settled with lead guitarist Dave Schramm and bass player Mike Lewis for their debut recording. After Schramm and Lewis left the band Stephan Wichnewski joined at bass guitar and Yo La Tengo recorded their second and third albums. On their 1992 album May I Sing with Me, James McNew joined the band at bass and has stayed with them since.
