Yellow Curry is a mild to medium spicy curry which is predominantly used in Thai cuisine. While the recipe may vary, yellow curry powder is usually comprised of coriander, cumin, fenugreek, fennel, yellow mustard, white pepper, cloves, turmeric and red pepper. Usually galangal, shallots, lemongrass and lime leaves are added, and the mixture is made into a paste, which is combined with coconut milk.
Turmeric
Turmeric, also called "yellow ginger", is the root of the Curcuma longa plant. It can only be grown in extremely warm climates. In addition to its use in food, it can also be used to dye clothes. In Ayurvedic traditions, it is used as an antiseptic and antibacterial agent. Recently, chemicals in turmeric have been shown in studies to aid aging brains in keeping their resilience. It is currently being used in clinical trials to study its cancer-treating properties, as well as to study its anti-inflammatory properties.
