Critical Reception
Year of the Dog premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay. The film has a 69% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 70 on Metacritic. Ethan Alter of Premiere Magazine enjoyed the film as a showcase for Molly Shannon's talents, but thinks White tries too hard to direct like Wes Anderson or Jared Hess. -
