  • Yasmin / Yaz

    Yasmin is a contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy. It's generic names are drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol. Other brand names are YAZ and Ocella. YAZ and Yasmin are the common names, and are sometimes seen as yaz-yasmin. Yasmin prevents ovulation and makes the uterus inhospitable to implantation. Yasmin is also used to reduce acne and help with premenstrual dysphoric disorder.

    Yasmin should only be used with a doctor's prescription. It is not safe for pregnant women to take the drug. Yasmin can cause birth defects. Yasmin is not safe for nursing mothers.
