Yael Naim is a French-Israeli singer-songwriter. Naim's song "New Soul" was her first single to be a top ten hit in the United States, peaking at #7 in the Billboard Hot 100. The song is featured in the debut commercial for the MacBook Air; reportedly, the song was selected for the commercial by Steve Jobs himself.
Career
After performing as a soloist with during her time with the Israeli Defense Force, Yael Naim joined a group called Les Dix Commandements as the singer. She later released her first solo album titled In a Man's Womb in 2001. The album recieved a lukewarm reception, but Naim would eventually make a much bigger splash with her 2007 album Yael Naim & David Donatien, an album on which she collaborated with percussionist David Donatien. The album features the hit single New Soul, which got a great deal of exposure on television commercials for the MacBook Air.
