XPath

  • XPath is a language that is used to access parts of an XML document. XPath stands for XML Path Language. Xpath is major element in W3C's XSLT standard. XQuery and XPointer are both built on XPath expressions.This language is used with XForms, XLink, XPointer, XSLT, XQuery and many more. Xpath is main purpose is for pointing to different parts of an XML document and pattern matching.
  • Background

    Xpath 1.0 became a W3C recommendation Xpath on 16 November 1999. XPath 2.0 became the next recommendation on 23 January 2007. XPath has become a tool that other programing languages use to acces XML nodes.
