Overview:

XM Satellite Radio was originally founded as American Mobile Satellite Corporation (AMSC in 1988, which then established a unit called American Mobile Radio Corporation in 1992, which then spun off XM Satellite Radio Holdings, Inc in 1999.

XM Satellite Radio is now wholy owned subsidiary of Sirius XM Radio, Inc. following the merger of Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio on July 29th, 2008.

XM Offers 73 different music channels, 39 news, sports, talk, and entertainment channels, 21 regional traffic and weather channels, and 23 play-by-play sports channels.
