Story
Like the title implies, both the game and the film X-Men Origins: Wolverine deal with the history and beginning of the Wolverine character. The story will reveal how and why he gained his adamantium skeleton, including his signature retractable claws, and how he escaped from the Weapon X super soldier program and eventually teamed up with the X-Men.IGN: Activision Unleashes New Wolverine DetailsGameplay
X-Men Origins: Wolverine is a third-person action game where players take on the role of the comic book hero. Activision said in a press release that the game will feature a "true-to-character Wolverine gameplay experience that takes gamers through and beyond the movie's storyline." The press release also said, "With razor-sharp adamantium claws unsheathed, the future X-Man enacts lightning-quick combat, evasive maneuvers, in-depth combo attacks, and an array of brutal finishing moves."IGN: Activision Unleashes New Wolverine DetailsIn an interview with Electronic Gaming Monthly, Raven Software said they were inspired by games like God of War and Devil May Cry in developing the gameplay, but wanted to keep the action in Wolverine fast and frantic. Raven's Dan Vondrak said in the article, "People are going to play Wolverine and then be annoyed with how slow other action games are. We've gone back and played highly touted action games we all love, and you're in these attacks forever. And it's not just the speed — it's the ease in which you're able to [break] out of your attacks at any time."Kotaku: Wolverine is like God of War only simpler
