X-Men

Categories: Entertainment
  • The X-Men are a fictional team of mutant superheroes and the stars of several comic books series published by Marvel Comics. They exist in a world that fears and reviles them for their differences, yet they defend it all the same. The X-Men are a flagship property in Marvel's list of characters, boasting popular characters like Wolverine and Jean Grey in their team roster. In addition to the comic books, the X-Men have been featured in numerous cartoon series and films; the films became a popular franchise, culminating in 2006's X-Men: The Last Stand, directed by Brett Ratner.
  • The Mutant Gene

Unlike many other superheroes who derive their powers from technological, mystical, alien, or other external sources, the X-Men are all mutants who were born with their superpowers. In the Marvel Universe, mutants do not manifest their abilities until around puberty. For this reason Professor Xavier, the leader of the X-Men, founded Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, a place young mutants could be taught how to control their abilities and guided on how to use them to benefit mankind as a whole.
