The 2010 Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is June 7-11 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, CA. Steve Jobs was the keynote speaker on June 7th where he announced the new iPhone called iPhone 4. The WWDC10 banner inside Moscone Hall has the slogan "The center of the app universe" so much of the keynote addressed new iPhone applications like FaceTime for video chat. Keynote Highlights
Steve Jobs gave the keynote from WWDC 2010 lasting nearly two hours. Most of the time was spent on the new iPhone 4 and the iPhone 4 OS (renamed iOS). There was a brief segment on the iPad and new applications (see sidebar). An item of note was the news that Apple will sell its 100 millionth iOS device sometime in June. Absent from the keynote was the Safari 5 release (now available for download). In addition to pricing, eight major features of the new iPhone 4 were highlighted. Pricing and Availability
The iPhone 4 available in black or white. Pricing with a two year contract (and $325 early termination fee) is $199 for 16GB or $299 for 32GB. The iPhone 3GS will continue to be sold for $99 but with the iOS4 (some features not available).
Steve Jobs said "AT&T is going to make an incredibly generous upgrade offer. If your contract expires at any time in 2010, you can upgrade to the iPhone 4. You can get it up to six months early."
Pre-order starts June 15th. On sale beginning June 24th in five countries (US, France, Germany, UK, Japan). In July, sales begin in 18 other countries. The iPhone 4 should be available in 88 countries by the end of September.

2) Retina Display Increases pixel density four times to 326 ppi and the human limit is 300 ppi at 10-12 inches. iPhone 4 comes with 3.5 inch - 960 X 640 pixels but with Retina Display has 78% of pixels of an iPad. iOS 4 runs applications full size but with better rendering.
3) A4 chip - 40% more talk time (7 hours), 6 hours 3G browsing, 10 hours WiFi browsing, 10 hours video, 40 hours music, 300 hours standby
4) Gyroscope
3 axis gyro for pitch, roll, and yaw - combined with accelerometer 6 axis of motion sensing - CoreMotion API allows extremely precise location
5) Camera system
- 5 megapixel camera, backside illuminated sensor, 1.75 micron pixel size in sensor, 5X digital zoom camera app and tap to focus with LED flash.
- Records HD video - 720p at 30fps - tap to focus video with built-in video editing - one click sharing - LED flash can stay on while shooting video.
- Record, edit, share HD video from your phone
- iMovie for iPhone
6) iOS 4 is the new operating system - 100 new enhancements.
- Multi-tasking as expected, folders, retina display integration, mail (unified inbox and threading), enhanced camera and photo apps, deeper enterprise support.
