The Wu-Tang Clan is an award winning, highly influential rap group from New York City. One of the most critically and commercially successful hip hop groups of all time the Wu-Tang Clan shot to fame through their uncompromising brand of hardcore rap. The founders of the Wu-Tang Clan: RZA, GZA, and Ol' Dirty Bastard, had previously formed a group called Force of the Imperial Master which met with relative underground success. Frustrated with the workings of the hip hop music industry the three, with The RZA as the de facto leader and the group's producer, gradually assembled the group together in late 1992 from friends and accomplices from around Staten Island.
