WrestleMania VII

Amidst feelings of patriotism following the Gulf War, the WWE broadcast WrestleMania VII with a very pro-America theme: the logo, the ring ropes and the banners around the arena all sported red, white and blue. The main event also mirrored the conflict overseas as then-WWE Champion and Iraqi sympathizer Sgt. Slaughter squared off against the "Real American," Hulk Hogan.

Despite the focus on the main event, however, perhaps the most emotional moment of the pay-per-view was after the retirement match, where the Ultimate Warrior defeated Randy Savage. Shocked at the loss, Savage's then-manager "Sensational" Sherri attacked him, prompting an unexpected save from Savage's former manager, Miss Elizabeth, who sat at ringside. Once Savage realized Elizabeth had come to his aide, the two embraced to a thunderous ovation from the crowd.
