Boo Boo is only four inches tall, and had been named the World's Smallest Dog in height by the Guinness Book of World Records in 2007. Heaven Sent Brandy was named the World's Smallest Dog in length at the end of 2005. The official entry in the Guinness World Records is "'The smallest dog in terms of length is Heaven Sent Brandy, a female Chihuahua who measured 15.2 cm (6 in) from the nose to the tip of the tail on January 31, 2005." A Maltese pup named Scooter may have become officially the world's smallest dog. Tragically though Scooter died at the age of six months and therefore never entered the record books. To create a record in the smallest category a dog has to be at least one, because dogs are still growing until then.

Scooter was looking to claim the title from a chihuahua from Kentucky named Boo Boo. Scooter was owned by Cheryl McKnight of New Zealand and measured in at 8 cm. Scooter stopped growing at two months of age, the dog never even weighed 400g (not even one pound).

A quote from his owner about his death "He broke his leg jumping out of the hands of a minder earlier this week. His tiny leg was put in a cast but the medication he was given for it caused stomach ulcers and he did not survive."
