World Poker Tour

The World Poker Tour (WPT) is a televised poker tournament that tours through the U.S. and overseas all year round. Anyone can play in the WPT if they are 21 or older and have the correct buy-in amount. Satellites are separate, smaller tournaments that anyone can enter for a lesser price than the buy-in for the main tournament. These satellites do not offer a monetary price, but instead let a percentage of the field (usually 20%), or sometimes just the winner of the satellite, into the main event.http://www.worldpokertour.com/About_us/FAQ.aspx

The World Poker Tour was first televised in 2003, and continues with new episodes each week. The televised portion of the show features the final tables of select events, which include six players and typically a prize pool of over $1 million.http://www.worldpokertour.com/About_us/FAQ.aspx
