World in Conflict

World in Conflict is a real-time strategy video game developed by Massive Entertainment for PC. Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions were expected to be released in the third quarter of 2008, but this was delayed after Activision dropped publishing rights in July 2008.IGN: Activision Drops Several Vivendi Games (July 29, 2008)

An expansion for World in Conflict, called Soviet Assault, will be released for PC in March 2009. It can be purchased in the World in Conflict: Complete Edition, which will contain both the original game and the expansion, or it can be purchased for download individually.Official Site: World in Conflict: Soviet Assault

The game is set in a fictional version of 1989 in which the Russian government uses military force to prevent the Soviet Union from falling apart. In order to gain leverage, Soviet forces invade Western Europe plunging the globe into a third world war pitting a Soviet led coalition against one led by the United States.
