Wolverine is a fictional mutant superhero and star of several comic books published by Marvel Comics. With his gruff demeanor and take-no-prisoners attitude, he has been one of Marvel's most popular characters for over 30 years. A feature film about Wolverine is scheduled for release, with Hugh Jackman reprising his role as the mutant anti-hero.

Wolverine's Origin
Born in the late 1800s as James Howlett in a small mining colony in Alberta, Canada, Wolverine changed his name to Logan and went on to work for various Canadian law enforcement, military, and intelligence agencies. He was eventually kidnapped and forced into a super-soldier program by the Weapon X organization, where the memories of his past were artificially suppressed and his bones were coated with the unbreakable metal adamantium. He was convinced by Professor Xavier to join the X-Men, and with his help eventually recovered his memories. Until then, no one knew his origin; his age couldn't even be guessed at, since his healing factor keeps him from aging like a normal human.
