Wite-Out is a correction fluid that allows you to cover errors on numerous types of papers while writing or typing. Since it was created in 1966, Wite-Out has become a staple throughout offices world-wide.
Formula
Wite-Out sold through 1988 were water-soluble, making the drying time very long. Water-soluble Wite-Out did not work well on photocopies and typewritten papers. The company was bought by Archibald Douglas in 1981. Douglas decided he needed to change the formula to make it dry faster, moving to a solvent-based formula. He released three different formulas, each for a different type of media. After receiving criticism because these formulas required an additional thinner and the fluid became known for contributing to ozone depletion. In 1990 an all-in-one fluid was released, addressing each of the complaints in prior products. The company was bought by BIC is 1992, who then released a number of new products, including correction tape.
