Witchblade

Witchblade is an American comic book series published by Top Cow Productions, a partner studio of Image Comics.

The Witchblade is a sentient artifact created by the Darkness and Angelus. If the Witchblade deems a wielder worthy of its powers, it morphs into armor that the wielder can use in combat. The Witchblade can also morph into weapons, heal mortal wounds, and even allow its owner to fly.

There have been several wielders of the Witchblade, the most recent being Sara Pezzini and Danielle Baptiste. Past storylines dictated that historical figures like Cleopatra, Joan of Arc, Florence Nightingale, and Marie Curie have possessed the Witchblade.

In 2008, Platinum Studios announced that a Witchblade film was in development. It is scheduled for release in 2009.
