Wireless Router

Wireless routers are used to connect electronic devices, like computers, phones and other gadgets, to the Internet and each other. The wireless router is connected to a wired internet access point, then sends the WiFi signal out to nearby devices.

Buying Guide

When choosing a wireless router, several factors to consider include the number of ports, range, security and speed. A router used for a business may need several ports to connect multiple computers and have a longer range, or area it reaches. A router used in a residential situation may not require the longer range or need to connect to several computers. Some routers offer a Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) or Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) to encrypt the data it is sending.
