• WipEout Pulse is a futuristic racing game that is part of the Wipeout series. It is also know as WipEout Pure 2 because it is considered the sequel to WipEout Pure. The game was released on the PlayStation Portable. As with the past WipEout games, players rode hovered vehicles around a futuristic track. The game is set in the year 2207, which is 20 years after the setting date for WipEout Pure.
  • Gameplay:

The structure of the game remains the same. Players race on hovered vehicles trying to avoid in-course hazards and other characters in order to win a race. If a player lost all of its energy before the race was over, the ship would crash and the race ends.
  • Game Modes

There are several one-player and multi-player modes available in WipEout Pulse:

    • Campaign: One-player mode. Each grid segment consists of several races. For every race, a player earns a certain amount of points. Reach the required amount of points in order to advance to the next segment.
    • Single Race: One-player mode. Choose a ship and race against the CPU on any of the tracks available.
    • Time Trial: One-player mode. Choose a ship and race on any of the tracks available. A player receives one boost for every lap. The ship is invulnerable to damage, so there's no worry about the race ending prematurely.
    • Tournament: Much like Single Race, but there are several races a person plays against the CPU. Players earn points based on their finish (crashing before the end receives zero points).
    • Zone Mode: One-player mode. Choose a ship and race on a track. Every 10 seconds, the ship goes faster. The goal is to ride as long as possible without crashing the ship.
    • Speed Lap: This is much like Time Trial, but it only takes into account individual laps. Players are given seven attempts, and a player receives a boost for each lap.
    • Eliminator: This is the same as the PlayStation versions of WipEout. A goal of 1 to 99 is set. Players can reach the target amount by either destroying a vehicle or completing a lap without crashing. If a player crashed, it was sent back to the track's starting line.
    • Online: Players can take part in online battles against other human competitors. However, custom stages are not playable.
