On March 20, 2008, the National Enquirer reported that actress Winona Ryder, was caught stealing makeup at a CVS store. According to reports, the alarm sounded when she tried to leave the store and goods were found in her bag which she had not paid for. Ryder was involved in a previous shoplifting incident in December 2001, when she was caught stealing clothes from a Saks Fifth Avenue store in Beverly Hills, California.
