Virtually every personal computer that is not made by Apple comes with the Microsoft Windows operating system. Windows first hit the market in 1985, but didn't reach mainstream success until Windows version 3.0, which sold two million copies in six months in 1990. The most recent version, Windows Vista, was released in January 2007.
