Wilt Chamberlain

  • Wilt Chamberlain was a Pro Basketball Hall of Fame player, between the years of 1959 - 1974. One of his landmark achievements was being the only player to score 100 points in a single game. Standing at 7 foot 1, Chamberlain was voted to the the first team all-NBA seven times, and was apart of the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team.

  • Early Life

    Born in Philadelphia, Chamberlain as an avid track and field participant. Due to his 6-10 stature, Chamberlain joined his high school basketball team in Philadelphia's Overbrook High School. A high school standout, he was drafted by the Kansas Jayhawks in 1955. In 1957, Chamberlain lead the Jayhawks to the National Championship against the North Carolina Tarheels. He left the college ranks to play for the Harlem Globetrotters in 1958 for a reported $50,0000.
  • NBA Career

    After playing for the Harlem Globetrotters, Chamberlain joined the Philadelphia Warriors who later became the San Fransisco Warriors. In 1960 the Warriors played the Boston Celtics for the NBA championship, however, the Chamberlain lead team lost the seven-game series 2-4. He moved on to the Philadelphia 76ers, where he played from 1965-1968. Winning a championship with the franchise in 1967. Chamberlain ended his career with the San Diego Conquistadors in 1974 with 31, 419 total points scored, 23,924 total rebounds, and was voted to the NBA 35th Anniversary Team.
