Pro Career
Reed was the 10th overall draft pick by the New York Knickerbockers in the 1964 NBA Draft. He spent his entire 10-year career for the New York Knicks winning the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1965, NBA MVP in 1970 and won two NBA championships (1970, 1973).NBA.com: Willis ReedPost playing career
He became a coach for the Knicks in 1977-1978, then served as volunteer assistant coach for St. John's University and head coached Creighton University from 1981-1985. During the 1980's, he served as assistant coach for both the Sacramento Kings and Atlanta Hawks. He was also the head coach of the New Jersey Nets in 1987-88 then became Nets' General Manager & Vice President of Basketball Operations from 1989 to 1996.
