Willie "Pops" Stargell was an outfielder and first baseman who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1962-1982. His positive attitude and dedicated style of play made him one of the most popular athletes in Pittsburgh history. Stargell was known for his monstrous home run hits, setting records for longest home runs in multiple National League ballparks. During his career he won an National League Co MVP, 2 World Series titles, 7 All-Star selections and a World Series MVP. After he retired he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1988 and threw the final pitch at Three Rivers Stadium in 2000.
