Randolph was a primary offensive component of the Yankees' teams of the late 1970s which played in three consecutive World Series, winning two in 1977 and 1978. Paired with Bucky Dent, Randolph's timely hitting as the second hitter in the line-up behind Mickey Rivers made the Yankees line-up a powerful force.

During a 13-year run with the Bronx Bombers, Randolph would eventually become the 8th team captain in the franchise's history.

He won a third World Series ring as a player in 1990 with Oakland.
