William Hung became famous after performing Ricky Martin's song "She Bangs" on American Idol. After his performance was broadcast during the auditions for the third season of Idol Hung rapidly gained a cult following. He was subsequently offered a $25,000 advance on a record deal from Koch Entertainment and released three albums on that label in 2004 and 2005.
Background
Hung moved to Camden, New Jersey in 1993 and graduated from the John H. Francis Polytechnic High School in Los Angeles. Hung was inspired to audition for American Idol after winning a dormitory talent contest.
