William Conradt Jr. was caught in a sting run by Dateline NBC as part of their To Catch a Predator series. Police allege that Conradt solicited sex from a decoy who was pretending to be a 13-year-old boy. He committed suicide rather than allow himself to be arrested. Dateline, the police and the Texas Rangers were all outside his house when they heard the gunshot on November 5, 2006. His sister has brought a lawsuit, claiming that Dateline is responsible for her brother's death.
Settlement

In June 2008, it was reported that a settlement was reached between Conradt's sister and NBC. The lawsuit was originally for $105 million. The amount of the settlement has not been disclosed.
