Wilford Brimley

Wilford Brimley was born on September 27, 1934 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Brimley worked as a ranch hand, blacksmith, and as a bodyguard for Howard Hughes. He is married to Lynne Brimley and together they have three sons. Brimley is also a well-known commercial spokesman for Liberty Medical and Quaker oatmeal. As an activist Brimley has campaigned against the efforts to ban cockfighting in Arizona and New Mexico. In 2008 he lent his support to Republican Presidential nominee John McCain.

Acting Career

Brimley began his career as a stunt man and riding extra in Western movies. He starred in the movies The China Syndrome, Absence of Malice, and The Natural. In 1985 he starred in the Ron Howard movie Cocoon and as Noa in the George Lucas made-for-TV Star Wars spin-off Ewoks: The Battle for Endor. Brimley has made several television appearances in his career including on hit shows The Waltons, Seinfeld, and Walker: Texas Ranger.
