Background
The American alternative rock band, Wilco truly has a style all their own. Wilco was formed in 1994 when members of the popular alternative country group Uncle Tupelo were left by their singer. Though Wilco, which is named for a communication term meaning “will comply”, has seen other members come and go, singer Jeff Tweedy and bassist John Stirratt have stayed since the beginning of the band. Wilco has a unique sound and style based on inspiration from a broad range of artists and genres. A distinctive alternative country sound has followed them since the early days, but as the band has matured their music has become more experimental. Now on their eighth album self titled “Wilco”, the band has always gone for something new leading Jon Pareles of Rolling Stone magazine to write in his 2004 review of their then newly released album, A Ghost is Born, “Wilco's latest metamorphosis, yet another sharp turn, in sound and mood, for a band that seems compelled to change with every album. And in its own way, it's as eerie as anything Wilco have recorded yet.”

Critical Response
- "A.M. is rather forgettable, while the expansive Being There, though frequently inspired, travels on paths blazed by Tom Petty on Damn the Torpedoes, if not The Flying Burrito Brothers. 1999's dolorous Summerteeth was exponentially more sophisticated than anything that came before it..."—PitchforkPitchfork:Yankee Hotel Foxtrot Review (April 22, 2002)
- "Wilco use guitars, bass, drums and keyboards, recorded with distinct realism and often played together live in the studio".—Rolling StoneRolling Stone:A Ghost Is Born' Review (July 8, 2004)
