Wikia Search was a user-controlled search engine founded by Jimmy Wales. The search engine allows any of its users to rate and filter user-contributed search results.
On March 31, 2009, Wales announced that Wikia Search would be closing down. Wales said that in a "different economy" the project have continued indefinitely. Wales planned on re-directing efforts to other Wikia projects.
