  • Wii Sports is a sports compilation video game developed by Nintendo for their Nintendo Wii video game console. The game features a collection of five unique sports games, including Baseball, Bowling, Tennis, Golf, and Boxing. Though the game does not feature extremely detailed graphics or complex game engines, its easy learning curve and multiplayer options make it ideal for parties or group gaming. The game is included with the Wii console.
  • Gameplay

There are five games in Wii Sports:

    1. Bowling: For 1-4 players. Players aim with the d-pad and then swing in a bowling ball-like motion.
    2. Baseball: For 1-2 players. Players either are the hitter or the pitcher. When a hitter, players only have to swing. Outs are created if the ball is caught by an infielder after a short period of time, or if it is a flyout, or if a player is out on strikes. Pitchers have several pitches available: Curveball, screwball, slider, fastball. There are times when the slider will become a fastball, it is indicated with an exclamation mark.
    3. Golf: For 1-2 players. Players swing in a golf-like style with the club.
    4. Boxing: For 1-2 players. Players throw punches and block hits with both the wiimote and nunchuck. Players can also move side to side by moving the wiimote and nunchuck to either side.
    5. Tennis: For 1-4 players. Each match is a doubles match. The outside lines are the lines that determine in or out. In a match that includes less than less than 3 players, the solo player can choose to play as both players on the same team.

  • Use of Miis

Having no specific player characters Wii Sports makes heavy use of the Wii's built-in Mii feature. Miis are player avatars that players can customize to look any way they want; typically people design Miis to look like themselves. The player's selected Mii appears as the on-screen player character in any of the five sports games the player chooses to play. Up to 4 players can participate in a single game, and each player can create and select their own personal Mii to play the game.
