Wii Fit Plus

The Nintendo Wii Fit Plus is a game that was produced exclusively for the Nintendo Wii system in 2009. The Wii Fit Plus serves as an updated edition to the Nintendo Wii Fit, the innovative fitness system playable on the console. The Wii Fit Plus features games in five categories: yoga, balance, strength training, aerobics, and training plus. This game features family-friendly graphics and even includes statistics tracking for pets. Additionally, there are privacy settings that enable a player to protect his vital statistics such as his weight and BMI (body mass index).

Players can purchase the Wii Fit Plus game as a standalone product (it works with the original Wii Fit accessories) or in a bundle that includes the Wii Fit balance board. The balance board is required for game play. It measures the player's weight, assists in calculating BMI, and analyzes COB (center of balance). Using this data, the Wii Fit Plus tracks and records player statistics and determines the player's Wii Fit age. The game determines a player's Wii Fit age using the player's actual age and test results.

The Wii Fit features an a la carte menu for exercises of varying types and lengths. Players can browse and select exercises as necessary or customize routines in My Wii Fit. Players are also encouraged to set and track caloric goals, and the game provides the player with statistics after each exercise is completed.

In addition to the balance board, some Wii Fit Plus activities require the Wii nunchuck.

Wii Fit Plus Environments and Music

The Wii Fit Plus offers multiple virtual environments for game play. The main plaza setting is framed by gentle, encouraging, upbeat music and lime green and white colors. A graphic representation of the Wii Fit balance board guides players through the exercise selection process, measurements, and also provides tips about working out and caring for the system.

The various games in the Wii Fit Plus program take players to different locations, including the beach, a simulated play town, a martial arts studio, the sky, a retro mushroom land, and even an iceberg. This constant change of scenery (depending on activity selection) creates refreshing variety in the Wii Fit Plus.

Wii Fit Plus Gameplay

Wii Fit Plus requires the use of a Wii remote and the Wii Fit balance board. Some games require the nunchuck and a yoga mat is recommended for yoga activities.

Each exercise and game has its own instructions. When the player starts to play Wii Fit Plus for the first time, she is asked to select a trainer (male or female) and input data such as date of birth and height. There is also a 'night owl' option which ends the user's day at 3 a.m. instead of midnight.

The Wii Fit Plus Bundle includes a USB charger plug-in for the balance board, protective gel covering for the balance board, non-slip socks, a yoga mat, and a carrying case for the balance board.

Series

This game is an improvement to the original Nintendo Wii Fit. There are also improvements to the second-generation balance boards sold with the Wii Fit plus, such as functionality with more generous weights.

The Wii Fit Plus changes include ability to weigh babies and pets, a turn-by-turn multiplayer mode, workout customization, and calorie counter.
