Why Is Google Black: In honor of Earth Hour 08 - a worldwide event in which people are being asked to turn off the lights in their home for one hour as a statement about global concern over Climate Change - the web search portal Google has decided to temporarily change the color of their front page to black (as opposed to the traditional white) on March 29, 2008. While Google admits on their explanation page that this move won't actually save any energy, they are doing it in an attempt to raise awareness of Global Climate Change.
