Why Did I Get Married? is a film by Tyler Perry about eight couples dealing with marital issues. A self-help superstar leads a couple's retreat in Colorado attended by many of her married friends from college - but can she really advise her friends when her own marriage is in trouble? With an alcoholic, a workaholic, and a womanizer added to the mix, the retreat leaves each couple asking: Why did I get married?
The Play
In the play Why Did I Get Married?, several married couples go to the home of "Poppy", an elderly widower with sage advice for all, for a couples-retreat weekend. Single friends come along, one of whom threatens an unhappy marriage, and at the end of the weekend several people are heartbroken. One year later, the participants reunite at the same cabin and discuss their marital issues.
