  • Whoppers are chocolate-covered malted milk balls made by Hershey's. Whoppers are made with whey, corn syrup, sugar, and malted milk.
  • History

    When malted milk balls were introduced by the Overland Candy Company in 1939, they were called "Giants". Leaf Brands renamed the candy Whoppers and reintroduced them in 1949. Leaf was acquired by Hershey in 1996.

    Whoppers were originally sold without wrappings and were available at two for one cent. Smaller Whoppers were wrapped in cellophane in packages of five called "fivesomes". These also sold for one cent. Egg-shaped Whoppers were introduced for Easter sometime around 1950.
