The White-Tailed Deer is one of the two most common deer in the United States (the other being the Mule Deer), with a population of up to 15 million, though it is also found in Canada, Mexico and as far south as Peru. The name refers to it's prominent white tail that, when raised, is used as a flag providing a flash of white, warning other deer of danger. Another distinctive characteristic is the shape of its antlers, which grow forward and curve inward. White-Tailed Deer weight from 100 to 300 lbs. and can grow nearly eight feet long.
