White Merlot has only been around since the late 1990s. In the '90s, in France, Fortant Winery, of the Languedoc, coined the term "White Merlot" for their blush version of merlot, designed to compete with the White Zinfandel market. White Merlot is made in much the same way as traditional Merlot, with the exception that the skins are removed from the juice after only hours or days, instead of weeks.
Serving Information
Blush wines are typically served chilled on a summer day, and White Merlot is no exception. It pairs well with cheese, appetizers, pasta, rice, grilled salmon, tuna and vegetables.http://www.granderivervineyards.com/store/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=13
